India is one of the oldest landmasses in the world.It is more than 6,000 years old,to say the least.Right from the days of the Ramayana to the days of the British Raj,India has remained an unmatched cradle of culture and civilisation.Its heritage is embedded in the ocean of empirical history,and its culture has its origins in the days of yore.Since India is a country which possess a hoary past,it is filled with relics and evidences of antiquity.These relics range form architectural wonders to simple houses in the rural villages of India.One would say that India is a country with catholicity of thought and a country which is unequalled in the art of cross-fertilising diverse cultures. India was the first country to field the idea of democracy(the Janapadas) and the constitutional structure(Cholas) and the principles of justice and peace(the Buddha).We are the country of the two great epics,the country of more than 500 recognised languages and dialects,the country which gave the world the numeral '0'.Therefore it would be within the language of propriety to crown India as the Mother of Culture,the Grand Mother of performing arts and the Great-grandmother of scientific logic.Let us salute the spirit of Indian heritage in traditional gaiety and fervour throughout our lives and for epochs to come.
